All-original, rock act, Thrown Alive is being regarded as one of the best new bands in the
Tampa Bay area and in addition to delivering solid, rock material, the hook-purveying,
power trio carries a message of hope and happiness through drug-free living.
The Music
On it’s face, Thrown Alive’s music is a great mix of heavy riffs with finely crafted vocal
harmonies and powerful melodies. The lyrics and music are intelligible and very
relatable, rendering audiences all over Florida screaming for more and smiling like
school kids.
The Message
In addition to musically substantial depth and soul, not veiled in the least, is Thrown
Alive’s message; that hope and inner-peace are only a choice away through spirituality
and doing the “next right thing”. Those familiar with 12-Step ideology will no doubt
recognize some of the lyrical expressions as being directly based on what they might
hear “in the rooms”, but Thrown Alive stands on its own as pure, bonafide rock and roll
with no compromise necessary for those not associated with a “program”.
The Purpose
Of the band’s purpose, guitarist/vocalist Roger Hemond says, “Our goal from the
beginning was simply to promote positive energy and what’s become tremendously
humbling to us is that we have a chance to make a difference as an example that you
can enjoy life and be “cool” and “accepted” without using drugs or alcohol. We have
played shows where there are 12Step members as young as 14 years old who still
have a lot of peer pressure to navigate and we play shows in clubs where people pull
us aside and ask questions or share about addiction and recovery. The hope is that
their experience talking with us and seeing what we do on-stage, drug-free, might
influence some decisions down the road. No amount of fame or fortune could ever
eclipse the value of that.”
As band resume’s go, Thrown Alive’s reflects a hard-working, social consciousness
with national act flavor, being called upon to open for a series of rock greats, including
Great White, Ratt, L.A. Guns and BullettBoys. Thrown Alive has also been featured on
local television news and several 12 Step related radio programs. We have been the
official “house band” for the Prescription Addiction Radio Show for over a year and
have performed at Soberstock, The 12 Step Music Fest and The Brittany Nation
Foundation’s concert for Drunk Driving Awareness. Each member has appeared in
internationally acclaimed publications like Rolling Stone, Rock Scene and Kerrang!
magazines.
The bottom line is that Thrown Alive offers an enjoyable array of song style, first-rate
musicianship and a message that commands making the choice to live. With intuitive
brotherly love and innate chemistry, Thrown Alive is fully capable of exceeding the
expectations of most any live-performance critic or connoisseur.
